MOMO HUB
Target Audience: International students at JMU
Project objective
Create two advertisements (one newspaper and one OOH) to bring awareness to the Momo hub food truck and encourage students to try these Nepali style dumplings.
Key Insights
Momo Hub is unique from any other food choices in the Harrisonburg area. This food truck in also very culturally diverse and allows students to broaden their horrizons and try new foods. Momo hub sells momos which is specific to Nepal. Momo hub also includes a lot of different choices so everyone can find a dumpling they enjoy. Momo Hub is a fast, easy, afforable option that also is delicious!
Research
The process began by researching our client and gaining more knowledge about the Nepali culture
Sketches
Our team began to sketch out various designs on paper that we felt could be possible candidates for our final idea. We then narrowed down our options.
Roughs
After we decided on our final sketches, we created four designs using Adobe illustrator, indesign, and photoshop.
Mockups
The last step of our project was to put our advertisements in real world mediums. We chose a magazine and a poster/bulletin.
Finals
We created two final designs after receiving feedback from my peers on our roughs. We chose the two designs we felt would appeal to our target audience the best.We incorporated our big idea of friendship through the use of animated dumplings
Creative Rationale
We aimed to create an advertisement that left viewers connecting Momo Hub with a lighthearted, happy feeling of joy and friendship. The goal of our advertisements was to bring together friends of all different backgrounds to share Nepali style dumplings. One of our advertisements shows two smiling momos beside each other holding flags to represent international students coming together and enjoying a momo with each other! Our magazine ad has the headline of “Don’t get FOMO, come get a MOMO” which we came up with to target college kids since “Fomo” is a term used regularly with this age group.
Media Rationale
We felt that a magazine and posters would be the best and most efficient ways to spread the word about Momo Hub, especially because our target audience is JMU international students. Magazines/ newspapers such as Proust and the breeze are two examples of where we would like to place our ads. Ideally, we would like to hang posters in the Center for Global Engagement, located in Holland Yates Hall, to ensure students of all backgrounds will come across the ad.
